Garden Blogger's Bloom Day -December 2015

Does this look like an Ohio winter scene? This picture was taken in the front yard today December 15!  Where is the winter? Mother nature is making us wait this year! We are enjoying every minute of this mild December!
Oak leaf hydrangea

I am sure that you are curious by now on what blooms we have in our December garden!
Are you ready? Here they come! The  blooms in our warmer than ever December garden are:

Chrysanthemum or Dendranthema "Harmony"

Lamium

English primrose

Three different varieties of hellebore are showing flowering buds which will be exciting to watch in full bloom sometimes in late winter.
Helleborus

In the vegetable garden a few herbs, swiss chard, onions and leaks remain available to us:

Swiss chard

Mint

Green onions and lettuce

Leeks

Oregano

Some of the ground covers look as if spring is here

Sedum hispanicum minus "Purple form"

Lovely foliage colors that gets my attention and invigorates every time I look at the garden.

Tanacetum vulgare 'Isla Gold' or Isla gold tansy

Epimedium

Lamiastrum galeobdolon "Florentine"

The sunroom is now the home for 30 some pots including three citrus trees.  I wish I can post the "fragrance"of the blooming citrus trees.

  1. English primrose... I might have to add that to the "cottage garden" I've been slowly planning out!

Also, I planted oregano as part of a small herb garden this year, not realizing that it would take over and basically become ground cover! Oops -- I might be moving it next year. :)

  2. You are so lucky to still have all that greenery in your garden. I envy your herb garden. I can't wait to plant mine next year.

  3. Happy holidays to you as well! Amazing how green things still are out there. Sort of the same here, but we've had just enough cold to put things to sleep and keep them that way.

  4. That is just bizarre. Do you maybe live in some Ohio outpost near the coast of Georgia? Incidentally, my wife grew up in Springfield OH.

    1. That was a bizarre December! The warmest that I remember. We live north of Akron, not close to Georgia.
